Pastor Allen Werk was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. He is a product of Lutheran schools from Kindergarten through seminary. He graduated from Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, MO with a Master of Divinity degree in 1982.
Pastor Werk married his wife Ann in 1980. They have two grown sons, Philip who lives in Los Angles and Samuel who lives in Chicago.
Pastor Werk served his vicarage at Eastern Heights Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. He has served as pastor of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Anamoose, ND and Zion Lutheran Church in Ashtabula, OH before coming to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Batavia.
Outside the congregation Pastor Werk has been zone pastoral counselor for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. He has been Circuit Counselor for the Buffalo North Circuit. He has been supervising pastor for a vicar in Albion, PA. He has provided vacancy coverage for congregations in North Dakota and Pennsylvania. He has also been president of the North Dakota Lutherans for Life. Since coming to Batavia, Pastor Werk has written the Lord, I Believe column for the Saturday edition of “The Daily News”.
Pastor Werk is currently the chaplain for the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
