2012-2013 School Year Events Schedule

January 9: FOLKS Meeting 6:30 p.m.

All preschool and K-5 parents are welcome to attend the FOLKS meeting to plan for upcoming events. The meeting will be held in the school library and last about an hour.

January 21: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

School will be closed to observe MLK Jr. Day.

January 25: End of Second Marking Period

Wow - we're halfway through the school year!

January 27: K-5 Students Sing at St. Paul 8:30 a.m.

K-5 students will sing at the St. Paul early service to start National Lutheran Schools Week.

January 27-February 2: National Lutheran Schools Week

This is every student's favorite week of the year! NLSW is a whole week spent celebrating being a Lutheran School. Monday is bring your Pastor to school day! Pastors can enjoy chapel time with their students at 9:30 a.m. and then refreshments and games at 10 a.m. On Wednesday, grandparents are invited at 10 a.m. to share time with their grandchildren at St. Paul. Grandparents will stay for lunch and students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. to share the rest of the day with their loved ones. On Friday, students will swim and enjoy gym time at the YMCA. Students, parent chaperones, and teachers will depart at 8:45 a.m. and return by 12:30 p.m. This is a great way to be active in the winter weather!

January 30: Grandparents Luncheon

Wednesday is Grandparents Day for NLSW. We look foward to sharing a wonderful luncheon with our students' grandparents. Our parent volunteers are preparing a delicious meal of baked chicken, mashed potatoes (the real ones), fruit, and salad. It is a great opportunity to enjoy special time with a loved one.

February 2: School Auction Fundraiser 3:30 p.m.

Going once, going twice, sold! This event features a wonderful selection of items that are sold via a live auctioneer. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and bidding begins at 4 p.m. in the school lunch room. A bake sale will offer delicious items and the Super Snack Shack will provide dinner options. An auction item list will be posted here as more information becomes available.

February 6-7: Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parents can meet with teachers Thursday evening or Friday evening to learn about their children's progress and pick up report cards.

February 15: Field Trip

K-5 students will tour the Kazoo Factory in Eden, NY.

March 4: Visit Kindergarten Day 9:30 a.m.

New friends may join us for chapel at 9:30 a.m. and then visit the classrooms and talk with parents of currently enrolled students. All grade levels (K-5) are welcome! This is a great chance to see our awesome little school. This year's enrollment is Kindergarten/1st Grade 17 students, Second/Third Grades 17 students, and Fourth/Fifth Grades 8 students, and we look forward to continuing to grow! If you know of a family who is interested in attending, please tell Mrs. Werk so that she can send them an invite and details about the day.

March 29-April 5: Easter Vacation

School will be closed so that students may enjoy time with loved ones for the Easter holiday.

April 10: FOLKS Meeting 6:30 p.m.

All preschool and K-5 parents are welcome to attend the FOLKS meeting to plan for upcoming events. The meeting will be held in the school library and last about an hour. This is our last meeting of this year!

April 12: End of Third Marking Period

Wow - the year is going by quickly!

April 17: Field Trip

K-5 students will see "The Wizard of Oz" at the Riviera Theater.

May 3: Spring Program & Bake Sale 6:30 p.m.

Students will perform at the annual spring program. FOLKS will host a bake sale afterwards. This event is hosted in the St. Paul sanctuary.

May 7: Science Fair 7:00 p.m.

Come support our students as they present their projects. Students will provide posters and other hands on activities, and they will discuss their research.

May 17: Field Trip

K-5 students will travel to the Father Baker Museum and Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Buffalo.

May 24-27: Memorial Weekend

School will be closed for Memorial Day weekend.

May 31: 4th/5th Grade Cleveland Trip

Mrs. Werk's class will travel to Cleveland to meet their pen pals, visit the U.S.S. Cod Submarine Memorial, see historic Little Italy, and attend a Cleveland Indians game.

June 14: Last Day for Preschool

Our preschool program will conclude on Friday, June 14. Have a great summer!

June 17: Field Trip

K-5 students will tour the Erie Canal and enjoy a boat ride. Parents are welcome. Tickets are $10 each for parents.

June 20: Last Day of School and Awards & Graduation Ceremony

School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. and the Awards and Graduation Ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Paul sanctuary.
